Weight Problems Regerian Essay Example
Weight Problems Regerian Essay Educator Markus Zindelo English 1213-048 May 17 2013 Weight Problems in the public eye today, youth heftiness is turning into a developing and disturbing concern. This pattern is reflected in the sonnet Fat Children, by Natalie Day. This is a sonnet about how hard a mother discovered it to quit taking care of the eager mouths of her youngsters. An insightful examination of this sonnet uncovers a subject about dishonestly upholding being overweight. This is effectively recognizable in the sentence, Even when they possessed a scent like regurgitation/and the runs, I continued taking care of them (Day lines 11-12). Perusing on, this subject evelops much further in the sentence, l continued heating cakes and singing wieners,/in any event, when spurned (Day 12-13). While this is a generally known subject, unbeknownst to some is this very point is as a rule quickly bantered as pertinent to the cutting edge vehicle. On one side of the contention, there are the individuals who state the advanced car ought to be a carefully financial and lightweight machine. On the opposite side are the individuals who state the cutting edge vehicle ought not be a carefully monetary and lightweight machine. In any case, regardless of every side contention, an ompromise must initiate for every car customer. The individuals who guarantee the cutting edge vehicle ought to be a carefully financial and lightweight machine shout so essentially because of the unreasonable costs engaged with moving the additional weight. Number one of everything is the expanded fuel utilization from conveying additional weight. This can bring about a debasement of up to around seven percent in mileage for each 10% expansion of vehicle mass (Bjelkengren 81). Also, this impact is intensified relying upon the forcefulness of a people traveling style (Gas Mileage). We will compose a custom paper test on Weight Problems Regerian explicitly for you for just $16.38 $13.9/page Request now We will compose a custom exposition test on Weight Problems Regerian explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer We will compose a custom exposition test on Weight Problems Regerian explicitly for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Recruit Writer This contention is likewise stretched out to the additional mileage of parts on the vehicle. The most prominent of these parts are the tires and brakes. The more a vehicle gauges, the more flotsam and jetsam erodes from the tires and brakes (Environmental). It can cost a few hundred dollars to supplant every one of the four tires and two or three hundred more to supplant the brakes, too. In conclusion, while there are numerous additional items that a purchaser may look over, present day vehicles have progressively increasingly standard highlights extending from things as blameless as a radio that will associate with an advanced mobile phone, to including back DVD players, to enormous wheels (Archer). This at last pushes up the cost of the car for the buyer, regardless of whether the additional items are undesirable. Likewise, the side for increasingly efficient and lightweight vehicles contends the positive natural part of having less vehicle weight. A portion of these reasons follow intimately with cost, strangely enough. For instance, the expanded utilization of fuel stores more synthetic substances into the air. Vehicle fuel utilization represents 66% of the USs carbon monoxide discharges just as enormous quantities of other destructive gasses (Protect). Essentially, the abundance weight yproduct of expanded brake and tire wear add to an expanded ecological effect by discharging particles that have been appeared to cause poisonousness in soil and created from assembling, extraction, and end-of-life endeavors and cause an intensification of natural effect, too. Besides, the side upholding present day financial and lightweight vehicles discusses the impacts of a vehicles mass on its exhibition. An Increase of vehicle weight can really debase in general vehicle execution in a negative way (Bjelkengren 24). Inside this conversation, they are explicitly worried about the egradation of increasing speed execution. This worry is affirmed by the outcomes, which have demonstrated that general vehicle mass decrease enormously impacts quickening execution. An assessment of one investigation uncovers that gains in speeding up can regularly be seen at rates equivalent to or higher than the level of mass removed, in a specific way. A model would be a 10% or higher increment in speeding up for a 10% diminishing in mass (Bjelkengren 82). With such an immediate effect on increasing speed and generally vehicle execution, it is anything but difficult to perceive any reason why they laim the cutting edge vehicle ought to be lightweight. Then again, the side of the discussion questions that the progression of innovation generally adjust itself on the issue. The principal territory where it adjust is the impact of new innovation on efficiency. While present day vehicles do to be sure have new advances that could include weight, headways have been made to neutralize this. The normal motor has become more eco-friendly and hence has more force per liter of relocation than they have had previously (Energy). Similarly, transmissions have gotten increasingly effective also, consequently elping to balance the mileage sway significantly more (Energy). Eventually, while this side is worried about efficiency, they feel at long last it isn't influenced by the additional items being referred to. In like manner, this side feels that there isn't an additional cost going into the additional extravagancies. Likewise with much innovation after some time, a considerable lot of such extravagancies have gotten less expensive. A genuine model is the cost of LCD TVs, which dropped somewhere in the range of sixty and 80% through the span of thirteen quarters from 2006 2009 (Conlon). This hypothesis is likewise bolstered when contrasting costs of similarly jested models from 15 years back and today. Note that the 1998 Toyota Avalon XLE V6 was presented at $28,288 and the equivalent 2013 Toyota Camry SE V6 was presented at $27,260 (Compare). That advanced Camry not just has more highlights, more force, and amazingly similar mileage (Compare), yet even expenses around $13,700 less in the wake of representing expansion (Inflation). Subsequently, it is obvious to see that currently used innovation isn't really costing the purchaser anything else than vehicles from days gone by. While the two sides appear to be at far edges of the range on this issue, they ctually share a typical intrigue. The comparative enthusiasm for this discussion is extreme fuel utilization. The individuals who announce the cutting edge car ought to be a carefully financial and lightweight machine care about not devouring over the top measures of fuel by getting rid of unneeded and substantial additional items. They additionally dont need a higher effect on the earth from expanded fuel utilization. Moreover, the individuals who broadcast the cutting edge car ought not be a carefully monetary and lightweight machine care about protecting the efficiency as set by their past vehicles. They invite the expansion of new innovation. At long last, albeit the two sides care about and measure exorbitant fuel utilization in an unexpected way, they care about it similarly. Since the two sides consent to a repugnance of exorbitant fuel utilization, an extraordinary trade off would just be to utilize lighter haggle arrangement. A pattern has been proceeding with where vehicles are being furnished with progressively bigger haggles (Paula). This additional rotational mass has intense unfavorable impacts to mileage, as tried via Car and Driver. They logged that the distinction in weight was just fourteen pounds for each corner between the littlest and biggest haggle combos tried. Astoundingly, they encountered a 10% drop in efficiency with such a little contrast. Besides, a similar report expresses a four percent expansion of increasing speed execution came about between the utilization of the biggest and littlest haggle combos (Quiroga). This would profit those with weight worries of the cutting edge vehicle by dropping the all out vehicle weight by fifty pounds or more, contingent upon the haggle materials utilized. Likewise, they would profit by the expansion of quickening. Finally and in particular, since their main concern is fuel utilization, this would satisfy them to be sparing a very ignificant 10% of utilization. At last, with respect to the individuals who don't figure the cutting edge car ought to be a carefully monetary and lightweight machine, this is a success for them, also. Along these lines, they would not need to surrender any overwhelming familiar luxuries so as to save fuel utilization. Actually, because of the huge drop in fuel utilization, they could even pick more devices and extravagances and still have preferable efficiency over they did beforehand. This arrangement of bargain could function admirably for the two gatherings included, yet they should compromise. That, yet they should voice their assessments to the car producers to be heard. On the off chance that they are not heard, at that point neither they, nor any other individual will procure the gainful trade off that could be had here. May the force be inside their hands to go forward, do something worth being thankful for, and set the model to support car buyers all over the place. Intercultural Awareness Report Halls Low and High Context Cultures free essay sample
Clarify Hallââ¬â¢s low and high setting societies and Hofstedeââ¬â¢s social measurements and examine the importance such hypotheses have in creating fitting business relations with different societies. Your answer ought to likewise assess reactions experienced by their individual social structures. Legitimize your answer with explicit business related models. This paper will talk about, Halls hypothesis of High and low social setting and Hofstedââ¬â¢s social measurements will likewise be examined, alongside their importance to the work spot and business relations. When managing various societies one myst be cautious with cooperations. An inappropriate sort of connection could flag inconvenience for businessââ¬â¢s. ââ¬Å" Wrong blessings may tick of potential exchanging partnersâ⬠Philippidis (1999). As indicated by Hall (1976) individuals of european legacy accept that what they live in is a word world. This is seen as a misstep by Hall since words do , not constantly mean the manner in which they are said or composed and can without much of a stretch be misjudged. In a high setting correspondence circumstance, the subject definitely knows the greater part of the data and there is next to no covered up in the subtext of the message. Conversely in low setting correspondence a large portion of the data is coded and isn't promptly accessible in an individual. For instance if you somehow managed to visit an inn in Japan or China, on the off chance that you were from a low setting society, you could wind up being moved around or requested to do things that would confound you. You could end up annoyed with the absence of correspondence. The appropriate response would be in Japan when an individual joins an organization, the individual supposedly belongs in a family way. Due to being seeing as a piece of the family, your hostââ¬â¢s won't want to clarify what is happening to you. You would be relied upon to follow the group to have the option to comprehend what's going on, similar to a family. With high setting societies the significance is regularly inside the setting of the correspondence and how it is conveyed (Hall, 1976). In a high setting society you are frequently expected to comprehend the significance of words or social cueââ¬â¢s through the setting of the message. High and low societies can be separate on four unique components, which would be feelings in a nearby relationship, use of nonverbal correspondence , the explicitness of the message passed on and the utilization of advanced or practically equivalent to language. In a circumstance including high setting correspondence, feelings are regularly included, then again low setting circumstances are less close to home and use rationales more (Hall,1998) For instance the Japanese like to offer tea and snacks to a visitor to their home. The Japanese like their visitors to feel great and attempt to give an affable climate, this additionally applies to business building associations with potential colleagues, having a place precedes the business. Europeans will in general be more straightforward with their correspondence and like to begin with business at the earliest opportunity. There is no genuine passionate connection with western business cooperations, its simply work. In western connections method of reasoning is favored over feelings, individuals are urged to haggle with an unmistakable brain, without feeling blurring judgment. As per Hall (1976) the Japanese would not be immediate with their words or messages when they convey. For instance a high setting individual would state they are ravenous, however would not leave to proceed to get any food. For a low setting singular it will imply that theyre companion is going to simply remain hungry, but for a high setting singular its a prompt to either purchase nourishment for their partner or offer to get some nourishment for them. When managing businessââ¬â¢s one must be delicate to various social prompts. Giving an inappropriate blessing, for example, a clock to a chinese colleague might cost you an arrangement. In switch with Asian high setting societies, delayed aberrance could befuddle, disturb or show absence of responsibility when managing a low setting society. It is fundamental that whatever culture is being managed is comprehended and comprehend that the redemption and setting of a message is as significant as the message itself. Two models would be Japan having a high setting society and attempting to polychronic time and furthermore has low territoriality according to space. As opposed to Japan, Germany has a low setting society and attempts to mono-incessant time and has high territoriality comparable to space. Taking everything into account a low setting or high setting society is conveyed through correspondence , the contrasts between the two are in a computerized or a similar to language, explicitness and backhandedness and verbal and non verbal practices. In spite of the fact that Halls hypotheses don't take into understanding that societies change and inside each culture there are people who may not think or carry on similarly as others. Hofstede made one of the most alluded to investigations of how esteems in the work spot can be affected by culture. Hofstede model of social contrasts was made with the mean to convey the distinctions in societies between laborers. Hofstedes models expressed how societies are not the same as one another, he made a model which comprised of 5 perspectives. ( David H. Earthy colored, Alasdair I. Macbean, 2001) Distance/Power Individuality Masculinity Avoidance/Uncertainty High Long term direction The force measurement discusses disparity and fairness between individuals in a social circumstance. At the point when a nation has high force separation it acknowledges and supports imbalance among individuals. Such a general public would regularly follow a position framework where moving upwards can be restricted. A low influence separation nation doesn't put significance on the distinctions individuals, for example, riches. Equity will frequently be viewed as a joint exertion from the general public. When working abroad or with different societies one must know about their chances to have the option to ascend in the organization or their position. For instance if you somehow managed to send an agent from your organization to another nation, you need to ensure you send some on of equivalent height as to not affront the other party. With independence how much a people group and individual accomplishments are engaged upon. Nations with a high independence score will in general have people who structure associations with huge gatherings of individuals, however the connections dont will in general last. While nations with a low independence score will in general have to a greater degree a network relationship. Manliness has to do with the degree a nation strengthens or doesn't fortify the manly job in their nation. A nation with a high manliness score, will in general have guys ruling the work put and have a noteworthy piece of the societyââ¬â¢s force and structure. A nation with a low manliness score has to a lesser extent a distinction in balance between the sexes, females are regularly treated as equivalents. When managing a culture with a high manliness score, alert must be made with how females inside your organization communicate with the men. Incredible offense could be taken by having a female at a gathering or providing orders, in nations, for example, in saudi arabia. With the evasion and vulnerability score, a nation that has a high vulnerability shirking score, may have a low limit towards equivocalness, which could mean it is typically determined by a standard orientated society and adheres to built up and characterized laws and controls. A low vulnerability evasion score shows a nation, that isn't worried about uncertainty and will in general endure assortment and experimentation much more. This general public is less centered around rules and acknowledges changes and is more than ready to face challenges. High long haul direction is the place a general public connects incredible significance to what's to come. Theyre values are outfitted towards remunerations. In transient orientated social orders the qualities elevated are identified with the over a wide span of time. Hofstedeââ¬â¢s contemplates shows that territory china is even more a collectivist community, whereas the english culture is increasingly maverick. Studies found that territory china attribute status inside the network dependent on a few factors, for example, gender, age and social associations. Where as english culture tends towards accomplished status dependent on a people individual accomplishments. The following is a table of the discovering purchase Hofstede of some asian nations in contrast with Britain. |Individualism file |Uncertainty shirking list |Power separation record | |The PRC |36c |117c |56c | |Honk Kong |25 |29 |68 | |Taiwan |17 |8 |58 | |Singapore |20 |69 |74 | |Great Britain |89 |35 | |(Hofstede ,2001) There are a couple of detriments to Hofstedeââ¬â¢s key 5 principals, above all else there are various societies living inside each nation. The normal score that a nation may concoct doesn't reflect or make up everyone in the nation. The model of social measurement is increasingly precise when applied to a populace overall, yet it doesnt consider the people who don't fit into the populace. You can not likewise be certain if the information gathered is right. The information is gathered through polls and surveys have theyre restricts so the information can not be taken as precisely. Having the option to tell if the information is comparable to the nation can likewise regularly demonstrate troublesome. Societies regularly change because of various impacts, hence it can not be checked if the information is cutting-edge or not. The two speculations endeavor to sort and people and social orders dependent on certain social convictions (Riad A. Ajami, G. Jason Goddard ,2006). The two speculations likewise appear to improve culture and makes such a mind boggling subject appear to be less complicated. Lobbies and Hofstedeââ¬â¢s hypotheses are both valuable in getting societies, they are just one proportion of culture and don't mull over a few different elements. Different variables that might not have been thought of, are impacts by outsiders and different societies. The two Halls and Hofstedeââ¬â¢s hypotheses, particularly when asian

What Are Your Values Deciding Whats Most Important in Life
What Are Your Values Deciding Whats Most Important in Life WHAT ARE VALUES?Values are what define the very core of your being. They define who you are. Values are at the heart of your life.We are all part of the human race and thus quite similar in many ways. However, there are subtle differences between us and these are what make us unique. Even when two or more people look completely alike, there will still be differences resulting from their values.Values are the things which are most important to you. The things that you consider above all else. They are powerful enough to make you sacrifice any comfort and convenience you may have. This is because, when you go against your values, you cannot escape the feeling of guilt which follows.Your conscience, which is an integral part of you, keeps track of your values. When you go against your values, your conscience aches and calls to your attention the wrong you have committed. However, if you ignore your conscience often enough, it takes the cue from you and adapts. It recognizes that your val ues have changed. This is how for example, you can move from starting small with a bad habit and end up getting very deep in it. The value which once classified the habit as bad, changed and you quickly learned the new habit. The importance of valuesValues are very important in your life. They help shape your life and even determine how much success you will have. Consider the following importances of values and you will understand why you need to identify and stick to your values.1. Find purpose in lifeYour purpose in life is the difference you strongly feel you are supposed to make while living on this earth. This usually refers to what you will do to make a difference in the lives of other people. And for that to happen, you will have made some considerable sacrifices.Your purpose will drive you to take action even when you do not have any support from friends or family. When you do not have any means, you would see no problem in parting with your property so as to facilitate the fulfillment of your purpose. In itself, a purpose can be big and daunting; one that not many people would be willing to embrace. Yet if you embrace it and run with it, you will be celebrated. Many of those who will celebrate you have little capacity to fully understand what you went through behind the scenes.Your values sit right at the heart of your purpose. They are the ones which point you on the direction you should go and the path you should take. This is critical because if you embark on a journey of a purpose you have embraced yet it is not aligned to your values, you will easily get frustrated. With frustration, you are likely to quit so as to take up a different purpose. As unfortunate a situation as it may be, your purpose is not like a career which can be changed any time. Your purpose is a long-term journey which you embark on and the goal should always be on your mind.Your values help you determine what your purpose is by making known to you the deep things which move you r heart. These are the things which when touched, be it positively or negatively, you are bound to respond.2. Build your self-esteemYour values help you build your self-esteem by increasing your awareness of yourself. Self-awareness enables you to understand who you are, what drives you forward and what you need to do to have a better life. This becomes evident when through self-awareness, you are able to identify the emotions which are influencing your life moment by moment. This is great as it empowers you to operate above and beyond the limits caused by emotions.Emotions can limit you when for example, they make you irritable. You may not be able to take it when people disagree with your point of view. This will bring the effect of people preferring to stay away from you.Eventually, you will not be able to develop a team to work with yet you need people for success. More so, self-awareness is a key ingredient for the highly-acclaimed skill of emotional intelligence.Once you know y our values, you become comfortable with yourself. You will not seek to be like others who are their original self. Instead, you will build your own self in the way you know is best for you. As you become more comfortable with yourself, your self-esteem goes up.3. Build your characterNothing counts like a solid character. Character is what we all seek in order top be sure that someone will remain true to their words. That they will not disappoint when times become difficult. This is what we seek when employing people or picking business partners. But just how do you get character? Itâs all in the values.Your character is defined as a combination of the qualities you have. These qualities come from sticking to what you stand for. If you stand for politeness for example, you will be known to be respectful. Everyone will know that despite being in an argument, you can never lash out at people. If you value truth and always speak the truth no matter what, it will be known that you canno t lie. You will be known to have integrity. It will then be easy for people to trust you.Identifying these values will certainly help you solidify their place in your life. The more you are aware of them, the more you can stick to them because they act as a light to direct your path. As you uphold them in your daily life, then they start shining and they are what people get to see.4. Make better decisionsMaking good decisions is never an easy thing for a majority of people. And when it comes to businesses, it becomes more difficult. The reasons for this difficulty abound. From the need to ensure stakeholders are happy with the decision to employees being comfortable with any coming changes. There is also the need to consider the opinions of top managers and any consultants that may be part of the business. Generally, the more the number of people to be consulted, the more time it takes to reach a decision. But you still need other peopleâs input, so what do you do?As an individual or business, when you know your values, they will direct your decision-making processes. The process becomes fairly simple. All you have to do is check whether the various options available are in line with your values. How exactly do your values help? For example, one of your values may be integrity. You may then be in a situation where you need to explain to a customer why his order has not been delivered on time. Some of the suggested explanations may be about the lack of raw materials, a problem with the delivery contractor you have etc.Instead of scratching your head wondering which of these sounds most convincing, you will simply check with your values and decide to tell the truth. You will understand that this might make the client turn red in anger but the most important thing for you is that your conscience doesnât condemn you. While communicating with the client, you may apologize and inform of the steps you have taken to prevent a similar occurrence. It is possible that yo ur client will see the sense of what you have explained and give you the chance to correct your mistake. In such a case, remember to point to the client that you are acting in line with your value of walking in integrity. This might earn you a lot of respect and more business as opposed to lying and being found out.âIts not hard to make decisions when you know what your values are.â Roy E. Disney5. Gain respectYour values bring you respect from both yourself and others because they make you have a stand even when others donât. Your values ensure that you do not become one of those people who are easily influenced to do things they do not wish to do.This is important because you will never accomplish your lifeâs goals if you keep operating under the influence of others. With respect, you will be able to often have what you need to achieve your goals. Those around you will recognize that you are serious in whatever you are pursuing and will give you the space. This is contrary to when you are among the majority who are just moving along life and get silenced any time they mention their dreams. Since they havenât gone out of the crowd to prove their strength to do it, they will simply never achieve those dreams. 6. Define your goalsYou need to have goals which you are seeking to achieve in life. It is however possible that you donât have them. All you may have is a desire of success thinking that it will bring about a good life. That will lead you into great disappointments. In case you are yet to realize this, success is not measured by the amount of money you have.Neither is it gauged by the amount of material wealth you possess. Success is all about achieving your goals and your goals come from your values. For example, if your values include compassion and a desire to help the elderly, your goal may be to open and run an orphanage. The moment you start and successfully run an orphanage, then you will have a sense of satisfaction that could not have c ome through any other way. You may have used all your money or maybe the money you have is what is paying for all expenses.Yet your joy will not be affected because the most important thing for you in life has been done.Your values are therefore essential in helping you define your goals and work towards achieving them.7. Choose the right career or business ideaJust like in the above point, your values will come in handy when you need to choose the career path to follow. With many options potentially causing confusion, you will be able to make a better choice than most of your friends.Since all careers come with different demands, you will basically be making compromises in order to fit into a certain career. This is normal and not a cause for worry. The problem comes in when you later realize that you compromised on an important part of your life without immediately knowing it.An example of how this could happen is choosing to become a surgeon. Surgeons are usually busy and could be called upon to assist at any time of the day or night. Some surgeries may take several hours and there may be two or more to be done in one day.Although you may rest, it may not be adequate if you desire to have ample time with your spouse and children. If this realization comes late in life, you may become stressed about the possible need to switch careers. Or, live a dissatisfied life while maintaining the chosen career. If on the other hand you had considered your value for spending time with family, you would have chosen a different career. Maybe one where you will work from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday only.8. Enjoy lifeEnjoying life comes from the satisfaction of achieving your goals. If you donât achieve your goals, you keep working towards them even when you are old. Alternatively, you may give up on them and start pushing your kids to take the path you were on so you can have the achievement through them.Others may just give up once old age catches up with them and the y live their retirement lives full of regrets. None of these unfortunate circumstances will occur if you used your values to determine what your goals are. You would then have worked towards them and subjected your decisions to your values.Living life according to your values has the benefit of giving you joy even before you retire from active work. Living by your values guarantees small amounts of joy every single day.For example, decisions are made every day. Making the wrong decisions end up causing you unnecessary stress. But what if you didnât make wrong decisions? What you need to consider here is the standard which you are seeking to live by. When you know your values and confidently choose to stick to them, you will find that the decisions you make secure your sense of peace on the inside.Whereas stressed people will seek to go on an expensive vacation so as to temporarily forget their stress, you will still be comfortable without the vacation because you rarely get high le vels of stress. If you were to go on vacation, you will have no dread of returning to work because your work is not stressful for you. This way, you enjoy life for a very long time. Possibly for the majority of your life. The connection between your values, desires and goalsSince we have talked about your values and your goals, it would be good to see what place desires have in your life.We all have desires and they may push us towards attaining some things. Those things should however not be confused with life goals. The difference may be subtle for others, yet very distinct for some. Still, you can make your desires your goal and seek to attain them. The difference between a desire and a goal can somehow be likened to the difference between a want and a need.Desires are generally things which when attained, they do not necessarily add much value to your life. They may give you a certain level of happiness and sense of fulfillment but they are very temporary in their nature. An example of a desire is living lavishly. This can easily become a goal for someone and is actually the case for many people. Fueled by the lavish lifestyles celebrities and billionaires live as shown on TV, many people desire to have money so they can also live the âgoodâ life.Although there is no problem with living large, a bigger question arises as to whether your living large adds any real value to you as a person. Apart from the status and definite comfort and great conveniences, no real satisfaction is achieved through this. This does not mean that the rich should be condemned. Anyone who has worked hard should be able to enjoy the fruits of his labor. To balance things, some focus needs to be given to the satisfaction of the soul.HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR VALUESIf there are so many valuable benefits of knowing and living by your values, then it is important to know how to identify them. You will be surprised that contrary to what you may have thought or heard, identifying your values is really easy. All you need to do is take some time to conduct this easy exercise. It is necessary to take some time to do it since it may require you to remind yourself of some things you have forgotten. You will also do well to have a pen and notebook or any writing area. These are for listing down your values as you discover them. As you will learn from the exercises below, you might end up with quite a long list. We will however show you how to shorten it so you have values which you can keep tabs on.There are two questions which you will use to dig into your past. What you come up with as answers, will be your list of values. Afterwards, you will also see how to make them memorable. What were your most fulfilling moments?Remember that your values indicate the things which have the guaranteed potential of bringing you maximum fulfillment. This question will therefore help you âdiscoverâ those particular things. When we talk of fulfillment, what is meant is the feeling that you h ave done something that is truly worthwhile. Something which despite possibly having taken you a lot of time and effort, you do not regret it. In fact, you feel so much joy about it.Watch the below video to get an understanding of how to live a fulfilled life. If this is a project you were working on, fulfillment is not necessarily the completion of the project. It could as well be the small challenge that came up which you have dealt with. For example, you may have been part of a study group and there is a group assignment given.Among yourselves, you divided the assignment into smaller tasks and assigned responsibilities to each one accordingly. Your responsibility could have been compiling the final report. Once you had the input from everyone else, you sat to work on the report. As you did this, you noticed inconsistent information from some members and generally-contradicting information when the full text was put together. This prompted you to call the involved members so as to have a joint meeting to reconcile the information. It may have taken you a lot of extra time to go through their work with them and probably help them with improvements. It may have been as though you are doing the work on their behalf. Once itâs all done however, you feel good that you were able to come up with a solution and had a great report awaiting presentation. After identifying the moment, you should check what caused you the joy of feeling fulfilled. These are what your values are. In this case, they could be teamwork, helping others with their work, accuracy and excellence in what you do.Once you have identified the things which you valued most in that situation, then move on to another situation. You can work on this list in the way that makes the exercise easiest for you. You can either pick one situation and finish with it or list all recalled situations then go through them one after the other. You should not rush yourself through this exercise. It is quite obvious that you cannot remember all of your best moments at once. You can therefore take several days. Just list the values or situations down as soon as you remember them. What were your most disappointing moments?Wondering how disappointments could indicate your values? This question works just like the above one but with differences in the situations being remembered and the list of words you will come up with.If your memory is perfect, you will not need to use this question because you will remember everything. But considering there are virtually no humans with a perfect memory, this question comes to your aid.Primarily, this question will lead you to a list of things you do not want to experience in your life. From that list, all you will do is get the opposite word and you are sorted. The idea behind this is the fact that if for example you donât like arguments, then you like peace. If you donât like being at the front leading people, then you most likely prefer supporting group projec ts.It is possible that not all opposites will describe you. All the same, they will paint a very good picture of what your preferences are. Also, from the list you will come up with, there will still be need to go through the values again so as to weed out any which donât represent you very well.To show you how this can work, letâs look at an example situation. You are in a group setting and have an assignment. The work has been broken down and responsibilities distributed among the members. Like in the above case, you are the one to compile the final report. You take charge of that responsibility and give a deadline by which every member should have submitted their work for the final report to be prepared. According to you, you have given everyone ample time while also ensuring you have enough time to read through their work and probably make changes. You all agreed that once the report is finished, you will meet to review it together. You have everything planned such that in case someone raises an issue and there is need to make corrections to the report, your group will be able to do it before the lecturerâs deadline.Your own deadline lapses and two of the group members are yet to submit their work. They also fail to communicate about the delays such that you have to call them a few hours after going through what has been done by the other members. This angers you but you manage to engage them in a friendly and respectful manner. They explain the difficulty which they faced and promise to deliver within two days. This is too much time for you and you all agree on one day. They finally deliver almost at the end of the second day.You make it known to them that they have greatly inconvenienced the group by not keeping to the agreed timelines. You also mention that they have made your work more difficult since you have to work late into the night and wonât have time to re-edit the report in case there are any errors. You end up not managing to do the group r eview of the report and after the presentation which was marked with many questions which your group couldnât answer, you were awarded with a âPASS.âWhereas your group did not fail, the score was way below your target. This dented your individual score sheet as you got a lower average score.Your list of valuesTo get your values, list down all the things that made you angry. Include the things to which you attribute the average performance. You may end up with things like lack of communication, lack of commitment, poor time management, inconveniences and poor co-ordination.The opposite of these (not necessarily dictionary opposites) could be listed respectively as good communication, commitment, good time management, convenience, co-ordination and teamwork. More than these, you can see that you value being well prepared, accuracy and success. You will thus realize that looking at both positive and negative situations of your past will lead you to discovering the things which mat ter to you.Remember that you will be better off making time for this exercise. Do not be in a hurry to complete it. Take your time and be as comprehensive as possible. If you do this well, you will have a list of values that truly reflect you. This is crucial because you will use this to come up with your value statement which you will always abide by. Remember that living by your values gives you stability as you are able to make better decisions and do the things which will get you moving towards your goals in life.Picking your values from a listIn case you think the above method is too time-consuming, we have come up with an option which might save you some time. The option is a list of common values which you can go through and pick the values you feel describe you.As much as we are presenting this option to you, we recommend you use the above questions to identify your values. This is because taking time to do that will help you know yourself better. While using this list, take c are not to pick what seems good instead of what truly defines you. Remember that this exercise is to help you find what will help you make the best of your life on earth. With that in mind, below is the list.AccomplishmentDriveMotivationAccountabilityEfficiencyOptimismAccuracyEnergyOriginalityAdaptabilityEnthusiasmPatienceAmbitionEthicalPeaceAssertivenessExcellencePersistenceBeautyFairnessPowerBoldnessFamilyProfessionalismBraveryFearlessRespectCandorForesightResponsibilityCarefulFriendshipSelflessCharityGeniusServiceCommitmentHard workSkillCommunicationHonestySuccessCompassionHumilitySustainabilityConfidenceIndependenceTeamworkConsistencyInnovationThoughtfulControlInspiringToleranceCooperationJoyToughnessCourtesyKindnessTrustCreativityLeadershipTruthDecisiveLogicUnityDependabilityLoveVictoryDeterminationLoyaltyWelcomingDignityMeaningWisdomCleverism.comCondensing your listIt is very likely that either through the questions or list you have come up with a long list of different values. These need to be condensed so you can easily make reference to them. You will do this by following the below three steps.Put related words together â" your long list contains values which are somewhat related to one another. Write these together such that you have a group of related values. For example, you may have a group of values such as courage, boldness, toughness and bravery.Name the groups â" each group of values should have a name. The name of the group will be a value by itself since it is what will describe the rest of the values in the group. If you find this to be difficult, consult a thesaurus.Putting it all together â" take all the group names and write them as a new list of values. Do not get rid of the values which are represented by these group names. Whereas these group names are now your primary values, the âgroup membersâ are what you could call the definitions of the primary values. They are simply what your values mean.Coming up with your values statem entHaving identified the values which define you, itâs important that you come up with a way of remembering them. If you remember them, then the chances are high that you will use them in deciding the important things in life. And what better way than to come up with a statement that says it all? When you think of companiesâ mission and vision statements, they easily tell you what those companies are all about. Those statements serve as powerful reminders of what is to be achieved. This shall work in a similar way. You need a statement that reminds you of what you are all about.Letâs look at some example values statements to guide you in making your own. Remember that this is all about you and no one else. Therefore, as much as you can make up a fancy statement, do not do it with the intention of making it sound good for others. It should sound good to you.Example values statementsValues: Courage, Success, Communication and TeamworkValues statement: With excellent communication, I team up with others to courageously pursue success. In this value statement, you boldly point out that you value success. You however donât work alone but with others, you face whatever challenges come and pursue success to the very end.Values: Joy, Hope, Selfless, Meaning and LoveValues statement: It is my joy to inspire hope and show people love as I selflessly serve and help them find meaning in life. It is evident from this values statement that your primary concern is to give people hope and show them love. And going beyond empty talk, you selflessly give away your time and effort to help them live a life that is full of meaning. And the crowning part of it is that doing this gives you joy and satisfaction. This is what gives you a sense of fulfillment.Living out your valuesThe final step towards making your values a daily reality is by ensuring that they are in your memory at all times. This is very important especially when you are getting started. So how do you do it?You can do it in different ways depending on your preferences but below we give you two simple yet effective ways. You have some amount of creativity in you. So, put that to work.Screensavers â" this is where you make use of your smartphone and computer. Instead of having a screensaver of just anything else, cars, houses etc, why not have one showing you your values? This can be achieved using some creative calligraphic writing of your values statement and saving it as a picture. Setting this as a screensaver for your phone and/or computer is a great way to remind yourself of what is most important to you.Songs â" music is powerful. You most likely remember how you used some musical tunes to remember necessary facts for your exams while in school. These are called mnemonic devices. Instead of just utilizing them for your presentations, why not use them for your values statement too?CONCLUSIONYour values are one of the most basic things about yourself that you need to identify. They wi ll help you stay focused on the journey you want to make in life. More than that, the result will be a great rewardâ"life satisfaction.

Literary Analysis Edgar Allan Poe - 1397 Words
ââ¬Å"Science has not yet taught us if madness is or is not the sublimity of intelligence.â⬠Edgar Allan Poe delineates the events and character development from his short story flawlessly with this quotation, as the narrator of the story transitions from precautious to mentally unhinged. This tale starts with the narrator boasting. As a person, he took immense pride in his preparatory measures and how vigilant he was. Furthermore, his whole life and all his motives were thrown out the window, as a result of this old manââ¬â¢s demonic eye taunting him. This demonic, taunting eye, an eye quoted as one that ââ¬Å"resembled that of a vulture,â⬠(2) instilled dread in the narratorââ¬â¢s heart. He followed up on his distress by making an attempt at removing himself of this eye. He fetched a lantern, and night after night persistently gazed upon this old man, more explicitly his eye, with vast amounts of caution. Each night, biding his time for countless hours, he would r elease a sliver of light upon the manââ¬â¢s eye, hoping to catch it open, and susceptible. However, this event never occurred, as one fateful night he made a tad too much noise. The old man noticed, but alas, it was too dark for him to see, only to suspect. The narrator stood for hours, waiting for his opening to withdraw himself from the scenario, an opening that never presented itself. This eye prompts the narrator to kill the old man in a panicked paroxysm after failing to eradicate solely the eye itself. We will write a custom essay sample on Queen Elizabeth Ra Speech or any similar topic only for you Order Now Through this statement she is able to establish a connection with the troops, an example of Pathos, as she appeals to their love for England. The reason for this is to show the troops that she respects each one of them for the price they may have to pay for such a noble sacrifice. At the end of the speech she calls her enemies the enemies of God, England, and her people, and uses the word my in front of all three examples. The use of ââ¬Å"myâ⬠shows that she takes ownership of these things and, as all good owners should do, shows that she plans to protect these things. Another way Elizabeth connects to her troops is by offering them monetary rewards for their actions. She also says that they are guaranteed by the word of prince, because in this time period, men were superior to women. Although she is Queen and it matters little that sheââ¬â¢s a woman, the use of ââ¬Å"princeâ⬠is highly significant because she basically refers to herself as equal to a man. This makes her men see her equal and respect her even more. Queen Elizabeth uses these ways to connect to her troops in order for them to be able to fight well in the upcoming battle. Negotiation and Conflict Resolution
Introduction Negotiations are often held in order to achieve goals that exist in an environment of contention. This means that there has to be more that one party that seeks to take advantage of scarce or shared resources. The need to ensure that one gets the most out of a negotiation warrants the identification of a number of steps that have to be followed as well as a number of underlying issues that have to be identified and incorporated in the negotiation process.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The main goal of following these steps as well as incorporating all the varied issues in the process does not necessarily lie in the achievement of a particular resource advantage over the other parties involved, but rather the sustenance of the entire negotiation process. Some of the most heated negotiation scenarios, which are identified t o be quite common, are business transactions. These involve different parties that seek to acquire particular products at the lowest possible price while other parties seek to dispose of a product and gain the most in terms of the respective exchange resource identified (Ramsbotham, Woodhouse and Miall 37). The need to maximize the benefits reaped out of a negotiation warrants not only the identification of oneââ¬â¢s stakes in the negotiation, but those of the other parties as well. Preparation While preparing for a negotiation it is important to identify a number of issues that are not only important in identifying oneââ¬â¢s position in the negotiation process, but also the position that the other parties to the negotiation are. This serves to ensure that all the parties are aware of all the stakes involved so as to avoid a situation where one of the parties is blindsided or ambushed. This has been known to be quite detrimental to a negotiation especially where one of the par ties decides to pull out after identifying that he or she may be getting the sharp end of the stick. The fact that one has to get into a negotiation while he or she is already aware of the underlying issues that are under negotiation means that there has to be prior debriefing where all the identified objectives of the negotiation are identified and communicated (Christie 31). These should be divided into a number of categories, which range from the most important to the least important, since this helps to identify the particular objectives that can be leveraged if the negotiation seems to be too stiff and the other parties seem to be unrelenting in making a balanced argument. Objectives The need to leverage oneââ¬â¢s position in the negotiation also warrants an identification of all the priorities that the different parties to the whole negotiation process have. This should help in identifying the stakes that are held in the negotiation especially where the parties may have to make sacrifices so as to accommodate the demands of the other parties.Advertising Looking for research paper on business communication? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More It is obvious to assume that all the parties in every negotiation have a number of bargaining chips on the side, but this may not be the case all the time as the adequate preparation of all parties through a situational audit usually helps in identifying the situation that the other party is in (Krivis 82). This helps to identify just how far one can push the negotiation before the other party snaps or gives in. It is identified that pushing an individual who does not have much to leverage may result in negative outcomes especially where they may choose to pull out of the whole process after identifying that they may be the biggest losers in the whole process. The need to assure all the parties involved that they will most probably come out of the negotiation as winners helps to ensure that the whole process is successful. By identifying the particular objectives as well as priorities held in the negotiation process, one is also able to ensure that they achieve their goal with as much efficiency as is possible. In a business negotiation, the objectives identified may vary from maximizing the monetary resource to maximizing oneââ¬â¢s control on a particular resource. Identifying oneââ¬â¢s needs as well as those of the other parties involved ensures one of leverage especially where they are in a position to control the outcomes of the party (Moffitt et, al. 91). Information The main motivation towards negotiating is often the need to win or achieve something that the other party is in control of. This means that there has to be adequate information on the particular stakes that are in the whole negotiation process. Having adequate or even more information than the other parties in the negotiation often gives one an upper hand in the wh ole process by ensuring that they can identify the different weaknesses that the other parties have and taking advantage of them. The particular information needed in the negotiation process has to relate to both the main issues as well as any other underlying issues that may serve to boost oneââ¬â¢s position in the whole process. The balance of power in this case should allow one to identify where to shift the negotiation process to weaken the opponent especially if the opponent may be too strong or rather, may be presenting a very strong case that one cannot dispute (Bercovitch and Jackson 92). The fact that the priorities held by both parties have already been identified serves to cement oneââ¬â¢s position in the whole process where the weak who have less to leverage end up losing out. Business information is often free to obtain in the market, but while most of the information in such negotiations may be common knowledge, the information that actually matters is the one th at even the party that it belongs to does not know is out there in the market. This type of information can be used to gain immense negotiation power especially where one may be blindsided.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Solid arguments that cannot be disputed are identified to give a negotiator an upper hand especially where they present a very strong case against the other party in the negotiation. This also ensures that a negotiator is not taken by surprise where one of the parties identifies a fact that negates the progress of the whole process or reduces oneââ¬â¢s leverage as well as priorities that make the difference between winning and losing. This should, however, not mean that there is no possibility of factoring in a number of assumptions especially where the issue under contention is known to all the parties involved (Z artman 103). While complex information may serve to give one an upper hand in the whole negotiation process, the lack of it could result in failure and substituting the available information that is yet to be substantiated with a common assumption may serve to save the whole negotiation process. This also works where the parties involved may not be fully aware of other underlying factors or issues that are in the industry or environment. This is especially important where there are unknown variables that may shift the whole balance of power in the negotiation process. Even though one of the parties may be at an advantage in such a situation, the unpredictability involved with unknown variables may make those who seem to have more to leverage skeptical over their whole strategy and position in the negotiation process (Ramsbotham, Woodhouse and Miall 103). Concessions The identification of the different issues that are at stake in the negotiation, which is often complemented by superi or information and communication systems, helps in identifying the concessions inherent in the negotiation. These have to be identified in terms of their value where the highest is leveraged while the lowest are used to gain negotiation mileage especially where one of the parties may seem too rigid and reluctant to accepting any of the terms discussed. The need to exchange value is advised by the fact that none of the parties to the negotiation ever wants to emerge as the loser in the whole process. This means that by identifying the different concessions that each party has to present a balance of whatever suits all parties can be identified and traded without having to degenerate into conflict over who is gaining what or loosing what since all the parties identify that they have to gain something from the other party or parties (Moore and Woodrow 23). The value of concessions is, however, one of the issues that may be contentious as different parties may perceive the value of conc essions based on whoever holds them or rather has leverage over them.Advertising Looking for research paper on business communication? Where one may seem as if they are losing out of the negotiated deal, they may just choose to redeem themselves by issuing high value concessions that the other parties may not be in a position to match. Discretion and caution is, therefore, advised when identifying or defining the value of concessions in every negotiation (Whetten and Cameron 47). The fact the previously set up information and communication systems are able to bring out the underlying facts on the condition of all the parties involved, serves to ease the whole process of valuing concessions. Since not all concessions may be identified to be of value in the particular situation that one is in, there is a need to evaluate those presented to ensure that the value is maintained at relevant levels witho ut having to lose out on a good deal. The reverse should also be identified where one has to identify the particular concessions that he or she holds that may be of the highest value to the other parties depending on their situation. This should help build their already leveraged position to ensure that they are in a better position to negotiate for the best possible terms as per their case. The fact that everyone who takes part in a negotiation does so under the assumption that he or she stands to gain or equally lose if the whole negotiation process is not successful means that oneââ¬â¢s position in the negotiation is fully dependent on their ability to present the other party with concessions that they need after which they have to get what they in turn need (Krivis 104). This should, therefore, create a situation where all the parties involved go home with confidence in the belief that they have won while the other party lost. Variables The success of a negotiation process to one of the parties with no regard to other parties involved mainly lies in the ability of one of the parties to achieve their personal interests as they set out to do at the beginning of the negotiation. The fact that some of the interests are often disguised under leverage and concessions means that there may be a chance where not all of the individual interests may be achieved at the end of the whole process. There is, therefore, a need to identify the most vital interests so as to ensure that one gets the best deal out of the whole negotiation process. The fact that different parties often have varied interests means that there is a high chance for all the parties involved to identify different vital interests and this may serve to increase the chance of a successful agreement at the end of the negotiation as well as reduce the time taken in the whole process. By identifying oneââ¬â¢s vital interests he or she may be in a position to ensure that the whole negotiation process is conducted with one single goal in sight (Deutsch 42). This serves to reduce the time lost while negotiating for other issues in the process of trying to shift the power balance to oneââ¬â¢s favor. It also serves to reduce the chances of the negotiator being blindsided or taken by surprise in the process, thereby losing his or her leverage against the other parties. Being aware of the interest of the other parties also serves to increase ones chances of winning and closing as a winner especially where he or she is able to match up to the unexpected leverage presented by the other parties. This also helps to predict the whole flow of the negotiation process and to identify the different variables that are in play, which then gives one some level of control over the whole negotiation process. Bridging factors have to be identified to ensure that all the parties remain relevant in the negotiation process. While ensuring that the negotiation continues smoothly may be identified as a secondary goal, which comes after ensuring that one gets the best deal out of the negotiation, the need to ensure that the negotiation flows smoothly to fruition is as important as the decision to join the negotiations in the first place (Moffitt et, al. 129). These are identified as the shared interests between the parties involved. These factors should always be leveraged by relinquishing some of the power that one may hold in a particular negotiation especially where the sustenance of the whole negotiation process may be at stake. At one point in the negotiation one has to identify particular interests that have to be given up to ensure that the process continues and that the he or she achieves the main or rater critical interests. The need to relinquish some of the leverage held should always be advised by some thorough research into the other parties to the negotiation (Bercovitch and Jackson 149). This should help in ensuring that one identifies the best interests that he or she may have to give up so as to ensure that they reach an agreement on the ones that are most desired. The fact that the other parties may pull out a fast one after one has relinquished some of his or her leverage means that there has to be a fallback position that will ensure that there is the safe reorganization of priorities as well as leverage ones power and position in the whole process (Christie 48). This may often happen where fact on the other parties or even the issues being negotiated may be distorted or just plain wrong, in which case one may find it tough to convince other parties to accept flawed arguments. Strategy The need to come up with a basic strategy complements the objectives identified. This strategy should incorporate all the variables identified as well as concessions established. It should also exploit the identified information and communication structures to ensure that the whole process remains successful all through. The need for a basic strategy also serves to ensure that a negotiating team is cooperative in its efforts and flows in unison where the efforts of each team member complements those of the other team members. The size of the team has to be factored in the process of formulating a negotiation strategy (Whetten and Cameron 78). While it may be identified that predictability may work negatively on oneââ¬â¢s negotiating position and power, it is identified that simplicity and flexibility in the strategy adopted serves to improve oneââ¬â¢s chances of success especially where the issues being negotiated are too complex and the negotiating teams may be large. It is identified that while simplicity serves to ensure that there is a steady flow as well as cooperation in the negotiation process, flexibility in strategy on the other hand serves to ensure that one is ready for any challenges that he or she may face in the process, especially where the other parties in the negotiation may be in a position of power or have mo re to leverage (Deutsch 135). The ability to adapt especially in light of questioning sessions that may often be used to weaken one of the parties, serves to increase oneââ¬â¢s chances of increasing his or her bargaining power. A strategy has to incorporate the needs of all the parties involved without becoming too complex to a point where no one can comprehend its basic tenets let alone apply it in the real negotiation. Teamwork Where a team of negotiators is involved, the cooperation between the different team members often has a significant impact on the success of the whole process. To achieve the best synchrony there has to be defined tasks that have to be performed by each team member. The first should be the team leader who should be in a position to coordinate the activities of the team not only during the negotiation, but also before the negotiation when the team is still in the planning and the strategy formulation phases (Zartman 164). This should serve to ensure they are all aware of their input in the whole process as well as ensure that all the team members have each otherââ¬â¢s back in case the negotiation process becomes too heated. There has to be a main speaker who will initiate dialogue with the other party while directing the whole flow of the negotiation process. This particular individual should have excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as be quite versed on the subject matter of the negotiation even though not in detail. A support speaker should be able to handle any questions or arguments that the main speaker may not be in a position to satisfactorily answer. There has to be a questioner who should be aware of all the interests of the parties as well as be extremely versed on the subject matter so as to be able to identify any underlying issues raised by the other party, which may lead to insufficient outcomes. There should be someone to summarize who should then serve to close the deal by ensuring that he or sh e captures the interest of the other party while ensuring that the teamââ¬â¢s interests are served effectively (Moore and Woodrow 36). The fact that the team needs to understand the other party to the negotiation as well as learn from the negotiation process means that there has to be an observer who has to identify the main issues in the negotiation process and ensure that the process stays on track and the main objectives are effectively served. These different positions in every team can at times be shared among the same persons and at times they can overlap each other depending on the negation and the resources available in the negation process. Arguments Most negotiations involve arguments, but this may not be guaranteed depending on the individuals involved as well as the nature of the negotiation. This requires brief and strong statements so as to decrease oneââ¬â¢s chances of confusing oneself. The fact that heated arguments may degenerate to include emotional outburst s means that one has to exercise caution while trying to induce emotion into the process while keeping his or her own emotions manageable (Moffitt et, al. 172). There is also a need to exchange information freely by ensuring that the other party gets a chance to communicate. Listening is often identified as courteous while at the same time serving to increase oneââ¬â¢s chance of identifying loop holes that can be exploited to improve his or her position in the whole process. Questions serve to give one a chance to seek clarification as well as to convince the other party that one is paying attention. This is often advantageous in increasing trust as well as affirming ones interest in the whole negotiation, which serves to sustain the negation to a point where all the parties reach an amicable agreement. This gives one a chance to look out for clues that serve to improve oneââ¬â¢s position in the negotiation while at the same time building on the other partyââ¬â¢s ideas (Kri vis 243). In a business negotiation, the making of a sale should be based on what the other party needs and how best to satisfy that need. The fact that most personal needs are unique makes it hard to actually pitch an exact idea as that held by the other party and the best way to ensure that the negotiation is fool proof is by initiating an argument that should then ensure that the other party appreciates oneââ¬â¢s efforts. Proposing The process of proposing has to be preceded by an evaluation of the position that one is in as far as the negotiation is concerned. The strength of oneââ¬â¢s position at this point should dictate the weight of the proposal made. In the case of a business negotiation, where one may be playing the defensive card over in efficiencies identified by the other party, it may not be so wise to make a significant proposal or even propose anything at all. Strait facts are quite important and the gathering of important and factual information on the issues at hand as well as on the other parties in the negotiation should be of paramount importance (Zartman 218). Where the negotiation is done using factual background information, it is identified that there is less ambiguity and control can be established based on the nature of the factual information held. Where one is in a position of power and still has some leverage left, one can propose anything and even go further to give conditions to ensure that he or she gets the best out of the deal. Bargain When bargaining, one has to identify the particular interests of the other party and match them with his or her own to ensure that he or she does not lose out on resources that would have otherwise been placed on the table (Moore and Woodrow 152). The fact that the value of the variables identified dictates that interests have to conform to a particular hierarchy means that one should protect the most important interests in the negotiation while using the less important interests as barga ining chips. Having leveraged heavily in the argument and proposal, one should be in a position to compel the other party to give up some of their important interests in exchange for some less important ones. This should ensure that the maximum amount of gains is made out of the whole negotiation process. At times, one may need to act tough, but caution should be exercised to ensure that one does not negate all the progress made in the negotiation by coming out as being uncooperative and conservative (Whetten and Cameron 126). Leading with conditions increases oneââ¬â¢s chance of ensuring that he or she is calling the shots and keeping everything negotiated linked serves to cement this authority by assuring the other party that they stand to lose more if oneââ¬â¢s demands are not met. Closing The condition that one is in during closing in terms of interests enjoyed after oneââ¬â¢s proposal has been accepted often dictates the type of closing to be made. This may either be a summary closing, a conditional closing or a concessional closing, in which case the next step is identified to vary between adjournment, denial or acceptance. One may also need to evaluate whatever has been agreed on so as to ensure that everything is clear as well as to identify any outstanding issues that may have been over looked (Bercovitch and Jackson 324). This is meant to avert any future legal proceedings arising out of conflicting interests not covered in the negation or wrongly interpreted in the process of negotiation. Conclusion The strategy should be able to incorporate logic and reason so as to cover factual negotiations that cannot be disputed in the negotiation process as well as in the future where there may be legal proceedings seeking to reverse or negate the decisions made in the negotiation. In a business situation one has use logic and reason to get the other party to accept the proposal made. The application of previously identified information should serve t o ensure that one raises perceptions of integrity that often reduce the chances of being ambushed with questions that require factual answers, which often serve to weaken the other party (Christie 62). This should also serve to increase trust since it is identified that people trust those who know more about the business subject and expect them to be right. This should serve to give one an upper hand in the negotiation especially in as far as convincing the other party is concerned. One may also need to incorporate emotional issues in the subject matter under negotiation to arouse the personal and emotional feeling of the other party. This works to ensure that one captures the full attention of the other party and is in a position of power where he or she is able to influence the thinking of the other people or person in the negation (Deutsch 214). An appeal to the emotions of other people is a powerful way to persuade them since it forces them to let their guard down and sympathize with the sentiments raised by the negotiator. The use of questions in the negotiation process can also be aimed at leading the other party to accepting oneââ¬â¢s terms by making him or her believe in the stakes raised in the process of negotiation. This should also allow the negotiator to force relationships on the other parties by allowing them to answer rhetorical questions that identify positive and clear facts. The use of repetition also serves to fulfill the same purpose where answers given serve to imply acceptance to proposals made. The fact that the use of lead questions serves to direct the other party to insinuate concessions before they are even verbalized means that, one is able to maintain a powerful rapport even when the other party may not be so willing to accept to the terms of the agreement. It also eases the way for one to make the formal proposal over the terms of the negotiation. There is a need to identify faults and problems before the other party identifie s them to ensure that one maintains their control over the whole process, however, caution has to be exercised to ensure that one does not take responsibility over faults that may be detrimental to the whole negotiation process especially where they may serve to compromise oneââ¬â¢s leverage over the other party involved. Where the other party identifies such faults and limitation, the information identified before the whole process should come in handy in asserting oneââ¬â¢s authority over his or her credibility in the negotiation and the stakes involved.
